When I sing, others think I sound good but when I record, it doesnt sound good enough?

Hey I'm a 15 year old asian-Canadian guy who dreams of becoming a
famous singer.

now the big question is how come when I sing, I sound good to myself
and everyone (even strangers and people that don't like me that much)
says that I'm awesome at singing, so I decided to record myself using
the Rock Band mic. I sounded not terrible, but not as good as it
sounds to myself. How come this happens?

- I've never had real singing lessons before (Parents couldn't really
afford them nor would they let me take them as they think that it's a
waste of time)

- I learnt to sing the same way Justin Timberlake did: imitating
singers as a little kid for entertainment (usually imitating Michael
Jackson, J. Timberlake, and recently Bruno Mars and Adam Lambert)

- I also take singing lessons on Youtube (Well, watching some rather
well-known Youtubers who have vocal lessons online)

- After everytime I sing in public, people usually say stuff like "Why
aren't you famous yet?" or "You were so awesome" or "You're a real
good singer, I never expected that from a talking voice like yours". I
also got a brief standing ovation once and also got the entire karaoke
bar dancing (not like dancing, but like some tiny dancing)

- My voice hasn't exactly hit full puberty yet...my talking voice
sounds similar to Bruno Mars

- I usually sing in some little flash mobs/group singing and
occasionally at Karaoke Bars.

- My voice had improved a lot from when I was 10 to now, (15) and my
voice is still soft.

- My current singing voice sounds like a mix between Bruno Mars and a
more masculine Megan Nicole
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeTrDGK-8Gc) ...actually now listening
to her sing that song, I think I actually do sound like the guy
version of her...

Also, is the Rock Band mic a bad mic to use? and is it hard for an
asian to become a famous singer in Canada, later the USA and possibly
elsewhere in the world?

Thanks
